There was a bridge near my father’s house
that I had seen so many times
without ever thinking much about it.
Now I see it differently.

A bridge is something we cross with our feet,
something built between one place and another,
but maybe some bridges are meant for more than that.

We stand with one foot in the life we know,
and another somewhere we cannot see,
trying to understand how love can still feel so close
when someone is no longer here.

You have gone to a place that I cannot follow
But there is still a bridge between us.

Maybe it is learning how to feel the connection
in a different way.
To trust that what was real
is still real.
That love can exist in both places.

And somewhere between what we have lost
and what still lives within our souls,
we begin to understand
the bridge that connects us.
